Just read your article!! Great points! Congrats to you for having the courage to take some control over your own destiny!! As a career coach for many clients who have been laid off, your assessment is right on target. Individuals need to take ownership of their career by continuously assessing their career goals, staying abreast of emerging trends and skill sets, and building and maintaining an expanded network. I look forward to following your success and adventures with a growing company.

Great points especially in light of changing world and economy. The days of working 30 years for 1 company and then collecting a fat pension are over...and not just for folks in start-up/entrepreneurial world. Even in the "regular" world this is a reality and cause for all to consider who they are developing personal skill sets/brand/potential on an ongoing basis.

Thanks for the reminder on network decay. I'm in a less than mediocre job right now, and I have seen first hand how my social interactions outside of my job have dwindled.
