Monad book available

Published December 4, 2005 by Robbie Allen

I’m pleased to announce the general availability of the first book on Microsoft’s new command shell (MSH), codenamed Monad. Microsoft’s Andy Oakley is the author. I was the technical editor and found Andy to be a pleasure to work with. This is the most excited I’ve been about a new book in a while. Microsoft, in large part due to the vision of Jeffrey Snover and his team, have been developing Monad to incorporate the best features of the UNIX shells and some popular scripting languages, all wrapped in a nice .NET bow. I’ve been following Monad since it was first released and have been impressed with its capabilities. I think it will revolutionize how admins maintain systems. There is a lot of say about it, so I’d recommend picking up the book :-) BTW, the Monad team has a blog in case you want to keep track of what they are doing.

Oh yeah, the book has a pretty cool cover:

Monad
