Blog recognition

Published November 7, 2005 by Robbie Allen

Blogging takes a non-trivial amount of time and effort. Well, I should say consistent blogging takes a non-trivial amount of time and effort. Anyone can create a blog on Blogger and post two times. What’s the return on investment for all the time I put into my blogs? Sure, I use AdSense but the money I get from that just covers my ISP costs and a not much more. It isn’t about the money. Currently, I blog for one of two reasons. Either because I’m passionate about a topic (Carolina Basketball Update and AD Cookbook Blog) or because I want to keep track of what I’m doing over a period of time (Robbie’s MIT Musings and Robbie Allen’s Home Page). If I lose interest in topic or stop working in a particular area, I’ll archive the blog and move on to something else. For example, when I finish at MIT, I’ll archive my MIT blog. Maybe then I’ll create an entrepreneurial blog ;-)

Since it does take a lot of time to keep the blogs up-to-date, it is nice when they are recognized. This year two of my blogs have been mentioned in print publications:

  • News @ MIT Sloan - B-School Blogging
  • Inside Carolina - Fan of the Month - January 2005
  • This post has been viewed 550 times
